2015 DoIT Computing Survey: Student Attitudes, Opinions, Usage

Background

Objective

The purpose of this research is to help the Division of Information Technology understand student awareness and usage of information resources.

Method/Approach

An online survey was administered during the Spring 2015 semester to a representative sample of the entire student population. 164 students completed the survey. This is a 14% response rate.

The approach taken in compiling this report was to provide the key pieces of data that will inform a decision, highlight difference/ uniqueness, or inform action moving forward.

A majority of students rate DoIT services at above average or better(73%). However, a standard customer satisfaction rating for above average/excellent is 86% or better.

 

Main Ideas from Students

  • Office 365 is not that good, I love the old one better.
  • Student Center need to be improved. Especially in UI design.
  • Overall – DoIT did a good job.
  • A hope that wireless could cover the whole campus.
  • The Help Desk, Tech Store and Tech Support usually helped students a lot.
  • Mobile application need to be developed more, especially in the bus schedule part.
