Benefits you don’t have to leave behind

Heading off for the summer doesn’t mean you have to leave behind no-cost or discounted services provided by DoIT. When off-campus you still have many benefits available, including several for graduating students.

For continuing students:

Wireless eduroam is a secure, worldwide Wi-Fi network and being a student at UW Madison automatically gives you access. All you need is your NetID. Use this interactive map to see where eduroam is available.

Learn@UW is a suite for learning management systems like Canvas, Desire2Learn (D2L), and Moodle. UW-Madison is adopting Canvas as the single, supported learning management system, and discontinuing support for D2L and Moodle. Access to D2L and Moodle will permanently end June 1, 2018. If you have created a D2L ePortfolio, you will need to take steps to preserve it in a cloud-hosted environment provided by D2L. Common tasks might inlcude archiving your work from Moodle or archiving a course from within D2L.

For graduating students:

Microsoft Office

Student access to no-cost Microsoft Office desktop applications ends after they leave the university. However, they can purchase Office from the DoIT Tech Store before they leave to continue using Office on their personally-owned devices. Don’t worry about your email, you’ll still be able to access it from MyUW as a former student.

Adobe Creative Cloud

As long as it’s purchased prior to graduation, students can take advantage of the special $60 one-year subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud. This breaks down to $5 per month, a significant savings over the non-academic regular price of $52.99 per month or $599.88 per year.

DoIT Tech Store for alumni

Alumni are now eligible to purchase from the DoIT Tech Store. Thus, graduated students will continue to qualify for special academic pricing on most products.
