Mark your calendars for January 28, 2019, when all active faculty, staff and student employees will have access to Webex Meetings and Webex Teams.
These online conferencing tools allow you to hold meetings with individuals regardless of their location. Both tools include video and audio capabilities along with screen sharing. Webex Teams includes a “personal room” allowing you to keep all shared docs in one convenient space.
You can learn more about how these tools work and which tool is best suited for your needs by attending a Webex Meetings and Webex Teams training session. Please go to the Office of Human Resources site (https://go.wisc.edu/cm4471) to register for an online or in-person session. Bring a laptop or other device to learn along in the sessions.
The campus rollout of Webex Meetings and Webex Teams does not include the following features:
- The recording function will not be turned on at this time as we are still working on HIPAA and FERPA concerns.
- Webex Teams only allows you to connect to people on campus (through Active Directory) or with those outside the UW who have Webex Teams account. Users will not be able to use Webex Teams to make regular phone calls.
- People who choose to dial in to Webex Meetings may incur long distance phone charges. If you join a meeting through your computer, no long distance charges will be incurred.
