Migrate your WiscWeb site to UW Theme 2.0 before the end of 2026

If your WiscWeb site still runs UW Theme Classic, you must migrate to UW Theme 2.0 by the end of 2026. Summer is peak migration time for academic teams, so now is a good time to get started.

What you need to know

Do I have to migrate?

Yes. All WiscWeb sites running UW Theme Classic must migrate to UW Theme 2.0 by the end of 2026.

After the deadline, WiscWeb will begin archiving sites that have not migrated, which will remove them from public view.

What will I need to do to migrate my site?

The migration tool handles 90% of the conversion automatically. However, you will still need to:

  1. Review each migrated page
  2. Fix any issues you find
  3. Mark pages as completed
  4. Schedule the launch date for your migrated site

Do I need to maintain both sites until I launch?

Yes. Your Classic site stays live until you launch your migrated 2.0 site. Plan to make updates on both versions during your review period.

What does UW Theme 2.0 look like?

Check out the UW Theme 2.0 playground to explore the new theme before beginning your migration. It’s a good place to get comfortable before you begin.

The WordPress dashboard and navigation are similar to what you know, but the block editor (Gutenberg) is a significant change. It’s more flexible, but there’s a learning curve.

Where to start

The WiscWeb UW Theme 2.0 migration page has everything you need: what to expect, step-by-step instructions, documentation, support channels, the element conversion table and training videos.
