LMS Integration Agreement Implementation

Innovative faculty and staff are looking for a way to responsibly add additional capabilities to Canvas, the centrally supported Learning Management System (LMS). Meanwhile the university continues to add and revise security, accessibility, data policies and operational processes that greatly impact the ability for the responsible adoption of new tools for teaching and learning.

Working with stakeholders on the UW–Madison campus, peer institutions, and UW System, an LMS Integration Agreement was created. When signed by vendors, the agreement serves as preliminary approval to integrate an application with the UW–Madison instance of Canvas. This new agreement will drastically reduce the time and effort required of instructors who seek to have a new application integrated in Canvas.

Now in the planning phase, this project will facilitate the adoption of new coursework technologies while adhering to campus policies for purchasing, data privacy and use, accessibility and cybersecurity. Additionally, it will raise awareness of the new LMS Integration Agreement and related processes, and determine the required resources to have a central unit oversee this work.
