Learn@UW Newsletter, week of June 12
What’s happening
Honorlock – New LTI version 1.3
Early this morning (June 12), Honorlock rolled out the new 1.3 version of its Canvas integration, which introduces enhanced security features.
We delivered notification emails to instructors using Honorlock this summer to help guide them in ensuring their exam settings are not lost in the upgrade. But instructors should verify their exam settings before delivering any exams. To do this:
Step 1: Add Honorlock to the Canvas course navbar.
Step 2: Launch Honorlock in that course, and verify and/or reestablish Honorlock exam settings.
Top Hat – Recent and coming updates
The summer is a great time for Top Hat to apply improvements and upgrades. Here is some recent and future activity.
In May’s release:
- A notice now appears at the top of pages alerting instructors to images missing alt-text.
In the June 15th release we are looking forward to two items:
- Top Hat will begin to recognize specific Canvas roles in individual courses, and ensure all individuals have the appropriate corresponding roles in Top Hat.
- Ace Content Enhancer will provide instructors with additional tools for making content accessible and interactive.
Expected in July:
- Instructors will be able to download and migrate their own content with full portability.
- New mobile-only secure attendance uses short-range Bluetooth signals to verify proximity and confirm that students are actually in the room together.
