Agenda

Noon to 12:30 p.m.: Welcome, introductions, ice breaker activity, and lunch

12:30 p.m. to 12:45 p.m.: Overview of Data Stewardship Vision and Future of Storage (Pete Boguszewski, CIO UW-Madison School of Education & Director of MERIT)

12:45 p.m. to 1 p.m.: Introduction to today’s activities (Jan Cheetham, Director, Research Cyberinfrastructure, DoIT)

1 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.: World Cafe Activity

2:15 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.: Wrap Up

World Cafe activity overview: Several topics related to data management and storage will be discussed at tables in the room. Participants will rotate through tables, spending about 15 min at each table. Facilitators at each table will provide background context and prompt participants to share ideas, concerns, and requirements related to that topic and record these on paper/whiteboards.

Table Topics:

  1. Research Data Lifecycle and Organization – Understanding how researchers organize, manage, and plan for data throughout its lifecycle
  2. Tags, Dashboards, and Alerts – Exploring how researchers could use tagging, dashboards, and alerts to organize, monitor, and manage their data across storage services
  3. Storage Tiers, Archiving, and Data Movement – Discussing current approaches and needs around moving, archiving, and managing data across storage services
  4. Access, Roles, and Data Continuity – Discussing access needs, responsibilities, and maintaining access to data over time
