The following KB article lists campus tools that have been made available to work remotely: https://kb.wisc.edu/10038.

  • If you have a DoIT-issued work laptop, this will be the best option for working remotely. Necessary software has already been installed and configured and DoIT can support it even while you’re remote.
  • If you have a DoIT-issued work laptop, have a “go bag” ready that includes any essential resources you’ll need. This should include at minimum:
    • Your work laptop
    • A power adapter
    • Duo authentication (Physical fob or your mobile device)
    • Other 2FA tokens (if necessary)
  • If a DoIT-issued laptop is unavailable, consider what job functions are necessary to complete your work. Many tools already utilize our cloud services and can be accessed from a home computer (Box, Office365, WebEx, Google Drive, et cetera). While you may be most familiar with full desktop applications for these functions, the cloud-based services can perform most operational needs.
  • If a DoIT issued laptop is unavailable and cloud-based services do not meet your needs, please contact us so we can advise you on the best options to continue to work.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know.

Thank you,

DoIT Departmental Support
