If you spend your workdays solving technology problems for colleagues, you understand how valuable it is to know the right person, or the right resource, when unusual cases come your way.

Make more of those crucial connections that make your work easier at the UW–‍Madison IT Support Symposium. Join us on April 21 at the Memorial Union for our second annual conference created by and for IT support professionals.

Space is limited to 110 attendees. Registration closes March 20.

IT Support Symposium 2026

  • Date: Tuesday, April 21
  • Time: 8am to 3pm
  • Location: Great Hall, Memorial Union (no virtual option)
  • Cost: $30 (scholarships available)

The symposium brings together staff from across the university whose work involves providing technical support, regardless of whether “IT” is part of their job title. Whether you run a departmental help desk, support classroom technology, manage IT services, manage IT staff or work alongside people who do, this event is worth your time.

Last year, 83 IT professionals from 38 departments gathered at the inaugural symposium to share ideas, swap solutions and meet peers they’d never connected with before. Nearly 100% of survey respondents said they made new contacts and came away with practical ideas they could use in their work.

“I met people today that I’ve never met before, which is surprising because I feel like I know everyone on campus. … I heard such great ideas, and I’m so excited to take that information back to my own department.”
Sara Nagreen, 2025 attendee

Unlike traditional conferences that rely heavily on presentations, the IT Support Symposium emphasizes active participation focused on the subjects most important to attendees, with facilitated discussions on topics they submit, plus a World Café session for open idea exchange.

Whether you’re a longtime IT veteran or newer to university technology work, the symposium offers something that many conferences don’t — real conversations with people who face the same day-to-day challenges you do.
