Grouper migration Thu, Apr 7, Manifest service impacted

This message is to inform you about a brief, upcoming outage to the Manifest service. No action is required from you

Starting at 4pm on Thursday, April 7, the Manifest group management service will be unavailable for approximately four to seven hours while the back-end technology, Grouper, is migrated to the cloud. This migration provides for a high-level of scalability and a starting point for potentially running other Identity and Access Management (IAM) infrastructure in the cloud.

Impact to Manifest users

Manifest users will be unable to access the service during the Grouper migration.

Impact to Applications using Grouper group memberships

During the migration automatic and manual group membership changes will not be possible, but existing group memberships will continue to be delivered through NetID login. This includes any automated membership updates such as those driven off student enrollment data or job data.

We anticipate a smooth transition and group memberships will be automatically updated after the migration is complete. If you have an emergency need during the outage for memberships to be updated, please reach out to the Identity and Access Management (IAM) team at mstsupport@doit.wisc.edu.

Please monitor the information on the Outages page for the most up to date information.

For questions about this upgrade, please email mstsupport@doit.wisc.edu.

Thank you in advance for your understanding and patience during this upgrade.
