I am excited to announce that Jamie Gutkowski has accepted the position of User Services director at the Division of Information Technology. The User Services director leads and manages 4 associate directors, a portfolio manager and nearly 200 professional staff and student employees, who manage many of the modern IT services that further the mission of the university and enhance the experience of faculty, staff and students.

Jamie brings a breadth of experience and education to this role in User Services. She is currently serving as the Web Platform Services associate director within Application Infrastructure Services, leading a team of approximately 30 information technology professionals and managers. In addition to a diverse combination of technical lead and developer work, Jamie served as adjunct faculty at Madison College delivering technical courses, and has extensive experience as a strategist and advisor, both for political campaigns and as a small business owner.

Jamie has demonstrated a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and social justice in her roles and is currently the co-chair of DoIT’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee. In addition, she has a strong commitment to continuing professional development.

I am thankful that Jamie will be joining the Core Services director team in her new role. She brings an extraordinary combination of experience with technical leadership, organizational change education, and a commitment to a diverse and inclusive workplace.

Jamie adds: “I am excited to be taking on this role and joining the User Services department. I look forward to continuing to learn more about the great work of the department and gathering ideas about the future.”

Jamie earned a political science degree from UW–Madison, an associate degree in graphic design from Madison College and a Master of Science degree in organizational change leadership from UW-Platteville.

Jamie begins her new role on January 15, 2023. Please join me in providing a warm welcome to Jamie as she begins her new role in January.
