Beginning this spring, campus’s anti-spam/antivirus software will transition from Sophos PureMessage for UNIX to Proofpoint. This software provides important functions that strengthen university cybersecurity and protection, scanning all incoming and outgoing email to detect spam or phishing attempts and viruses. Sophos PureMessage will retire July 20, 2023. Proofpoint will be implemented prior to July 2023 to ensure there is no gap in anti-spam/antivirus functions.
What do I need to do now?
You do not need to take any action at this time. This notification is for awareness purposes about an upcoming service change. Future messaging will outline what, if any, action you may need to take. The project team will communicate with IT partners (such as Microsoft 365 Domain Administrators) to prepare for the transition to Proofpoint.
