Help support ITA during Day of the Badger

The Information Technology Academy (ITA) is a free pre-college program making a difference in the lives of first-generation and low-income students across Wisconsin. For more than 25 years, the program has empowered hundreds of students to reach their potential; propelling them forward to obtain higher education and careers in an increasingly tech-driven world.

This year, ITA will participate in UW–‍Madison’s 7th annual Day of the Badger fundraising event, taking place on April 14 to 15, 2026. Donations to ITA during this time will also help unlock a special match, meaning donations will go even further to support students.

Every dollar donated to ITA helps create life-changing opportunities for students. ITA builds:

  • Tech-ready graduates: Providing access to cutting-edge technology, giving students a competitive edge in the job market.
  • College confidence: Offering residential experiences on campus, fostering a smooth transition to higher education.
  • Life skills for success: Equipping students with valuable career and life development tools, ensuring they thrive beyond academics.

Preparing students for higher education

ITA is dedicated to narrowing the educational divide and empowering first-generation and low-income students to achieve academic excellence and career success. Since the program began in 2000, its impact is evident in the numbers:

  • Over 700 first-generation and low-income high school students have participated in ITA.
  • 97% of ITA alumni have pursued higher education.
  • 50% of ITA alumni have opted to continue their academic pursuits at UW–‍Madison as PEOPLE scholars.

Be part of the ITA story by supporting ITA on Day of the Badger. Your donation becomes an investment in the next generation of innovators, leaders and problem-solvers in Wisconsin. Help ITA continue its legacy by ensuring that students have access to opportunities that inspire confidence, build skills, and open doors to college and careers in technology.
