Get AI basics with Learn@UW

Join the Learn@UW team for a one-hour workshop created to introduce the basics of AI using UW–‍Madison approved AI tools, Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini. This hands-on session, designed for all UW–‍Madison employees, will show attendees how to login, write a successful prompt, protect university information, and think critically about the results that these tools provide.

This session will cover:

  • What generative AI is (specifically large language models, or LLMs), and what it can do for you
  • Which tools are available at UW–‍Madison, and what data can be used with them
  • The advantages of using UW–‍Madison vetted AI tools (eg, privacy)
  • How to log in and use Microsoft Copilot and/or Google Gemini
  • Recognizing and describing key considerations when using AI

No technical expertise is required, but attendees should bring their willingness to explore and ask questions.
