The 1st seminar, “A Generative AI Briefing,” will feature technologists Dan Stoneman, Ph.D., and David Bruce, who serve as executive partners at Gartner, a Connecticut-based technological research and consulting firm. They will give an overview of generative AI, offer examples of how it can be used in higher education and business, and share some considerations for the risks that come with this new technology.

About the speakers
Dan Stoneman
Dan Stoneman, Ph.D., joined Gartner in December 2018 and is an executive partner with executive programs. In this role, Dr. Stoneman provides chief information officers and senior IT leaders across the U.S. with actionable advice based on their business and technology needs. Before joining Gartner, Dr. Stoneman was a serial entrepreneur, starting and working in 5 startup companies in network design, software engineering, artificial intelligence, software products and education. With more than 20 years of experience in C-suite roles, including chief technology officer, chief information officer (CIO) and chief innovation officer, Dr. Stoneman has worked around the globe and across industries.
David Bruce
David Bruce joined Gartner in 2021 as an executive partner with a focus on higher education. In this role, Bruce provides expert advice and recommendations to chief information officers and other C-suite administrators across the U.S. He has had an extensive career in higher education technology spanning more than 20 years. As an IT leader and CIO, he has a track record of successfully driving strategy, building functioning governance and initiating technology upgrades and service improvement within large public research universities. Bruce is passionate about driving positive team culture and ensuring organizational success through institutional strategic alignment. Before joining Gartner, he was CIO at Cleveland State University and served in several IT leadership roles at the University of Arkansas.
