Add planned maintenance notices to your calendar

Outages happen. Sometimes they’re sudden, prolonged and dramatic. Planned maintenance, however, is far more common. Planned maintenance is routine and planned well in advance, resulting from the need for periodic upkeep or upgrades.

You can keep abreast of outages by visiting outages.doit.wisc.edu. You can also find planned maintenance notices there—and add them to your calendar with just a couple of clicks.

If you find a planned-maintenance notice you’d like to be reminded about, simply take the following steps:

  1. Click the outage title from the planned maintenance list.
  2. Click Add to calendar. This will trigger the download of a .ics file.
  3. When prompted, simply click OK to open that file with your default calendar application. If you use Outlook on the web, simply click Add Calendar from the toolbar and then pick the .ics file you saved in step 2.
  4. Follow your calendar application’s prompts to save the outage information to your calendar. For example, in Outlook, you’d click Save & Close to save the outage to your default calendar.

That’s all there is to it!
