End of an era: DoIT Directory retires

With Workday offering employees a suite of features—including an interactive organizational chart—we’re officially saying goodbye to the DoIT Org Chart and DoIT Directory on DoITnet and it.wisc.edu.

These platforms served us well and met our organizational needs when we needed them most. However, now that Workday provides the same functionality, we’re retiring duplicate tools.

How to access the Workday org chart

Getting to your organizational chart in Workday takes just a few clicks:

  • Log into MyUW and click the “Workday” tile
  • Click Profile (the person icon, upper right corner)
  • Select “View Profile”
  • Click “Team” (the org chart icon, left side of the screen)
  • You’ll see your position in the org chart with your supervisor displayed above you

A few tips when using Workday’s org chart

  • Click any colleague’s name to view their title, manager, email address and additional details
  • Use the down arrow under any name to expand that section of the org chart
  • The hierarchy adjusts automatically as you scroll up and down the page, reflecting different organizational levels.

Understanding Workday’s org chart structure

Workday organizes employees into supervisory organizations (affectionately called “sup orgs”) based on teams, departments, divisions or units. The org chart stacks these sup orgs to illustrate organizational hierarchy, highlighting the management and reporting structure across the entire organization. This visual representation makes it easy to understand how our teams connect and collaborate.
