Get AI basics with Learn@UW

Join the Learn@UW team for a 1-hour workshop created to introduce the basics of AI using UW–‍Madison approved artificial intelligence tools: Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini. This hands-on session, designed for all UW–‍Madison employees, will show attendees how to log in, write a successful prompt, protect university information, and think critically about the results these tools provide.

This session will cover:

  • What Generative AI (specifically LLMs, or large language models) is and what it can do for you
  • Which tools are available at UW–‍Madison and what data can be used with them
  • The advantages of using UW–‍Madison vetted AI tools (eg, privacy)
  • How to log in and use Microsoft Copilot and/or Google Gemini
  • Recognizing and describing key considerations when using AI

No technical expertise is required, but attendees should bring their willingness to explore and ask questions.
