The Cybersecurity team has a solution for you: use a password manager. UW–Madison recommends using 1Password as your password management solution. It’s free to use for enrolled students, as well as paid faculty and staff. 1Password safely stores and manages your passwords, credit cards and other documents across all of your devices. You only need to remember a passphrase to access your information.
A passphrase is a sentence or phrase that is easy for you to remember, but difficult for others to guess. For example, “Bucky Badger does push-ups when we score.”
Why use a password manager?
Password managers eliminate the need to remember multiple passwords. They also notify you if your current password is used on multiple sites. 1Password works across all platforms and devices including Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, and iOS.
