Since 2021, the Insights to Impact (i2i) Program has helped instructors transform data into actionable strategies that improve student learning and success. Selected participants work on a project that is meaningful to them and–during the duration of the program–receive dedicated teaching and learning data support, pedagogical consultation and governance guidance.

Projects often explore patterns in enrollment, performance, engagement and student perceptions—leading to data-informed curriculum changes and ongoing research opportunities.

Apply today and join a community of like-minded and committed educators. Early-bird deadline is Monday, April 6.

Past participants tell their story

Heidi Evans and Andrea Poulos participated in the i2i program during the 2024-2025 academic year. Together, they worked on a project called Investigating student engagement in a high-impact undergraduate ESL Reading and Vocabulary Skills Course. Through this work, they examined the effects that course engagement has on overall academic performance.

The i2i Program provided Evans and Poulos with the space to explore this topic and, eventually, craft their insights into compelling data visualizations. The discoveries they made during the program also informed their teaching. They learned that they were instructing their students in ways critical to retaining information, and they had the data to back it up. “A key takeaway for us was that humans need repetition to learn, and there are many good strategies for getting that repetition.”

When asked to summarize their experience with i2i, they offered the following enthusiastic review, “We had a great time working together, built connections across campus with folks from various departments, and came away feeling more confident and energized in our pedagogy. It was a great chance to ‘do research’ in a supported, structured environment and see results we could immediately put into practice.”
