What’s happening?

Canvas – Updated New Quizzes Documentation

After receiving very helpful and insightful feedback, we updated our KnowledgeBase documents related to Canvas New Quizzes. There is now new language about extending time in a New Quiz, as well as some other adjustments. We always welcome your suggestions for how we can improve our documentation. Canvas – Planned outage, October 2

Instructure will be conducting two scheduled maintenance events on the Canvas LMS in the early hours of October 2 (beginning approximately 3:00 am CT). Every effort has been made to minimize impact on users.

Atomic Assessments – Update scheduled, October 7

Next Tuesday, October 7, Atomic Assessments will be releasing an upgrade. The highlights of this upgrade include:

  • Teacher feedback text areas in the SpeedGrader and attempt review are now collapsed by default to save space.
  • Points possible on the assessment has been renamed to “Gradebook Points Possible” to help with clarity.
  • The ability to add a Custom exit screen for assessments.

Gradescope – Planned outage, October 25

Gradescope will be conducting six hours of maintenance from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, on Saturday, October 25.”During this time, users may experience interruptions when loading assignments and making submissions to assignments through LTI 1.3 integrations only, as well as when submitting files for Gradescope’s Code Similarity Reports and exporting submissions. All other components of Gradescope will be operational, including both making submissions and accessing assignments via the website directly, as well as all functionality on the Gradescope Mobile App.”

Engage – Spring ordering period begins October 20

At UW–‍Madison, instructors use Engage to manage and deliver eTexts and digital learning tools (DLTs) for their courses. The ordering period for these digital options for spring 2026 begins on Friday, October 20, and runs through Friday, December 1.To explore the tool and how it all works, refer to Learn@UW’s extensive library of Engage KnowledgeBase articles. To review what resources (i.e. textbooks) are available in digital form, open the Engage order tool, and browse the catalog.

Learn@UW – Website refresh

We’ve recently updated the Learn@UW website to reflect an expansion of our suite of tools. In addition to supporting teaching and learning technologies, our team is currently partnering with the Office of Academic & Career Success to provide IT service support and administration for several impactful career readiness tools.We invite you to explore the updated site and see what’s new. Please check back often to learn about the latest on IT services we support and our capabilities to enhance both learning and career preparation for students.
