Zoom in Canvas – Known issue: Non-Students in a course affect “Auto Record” Setting
Learn@UW has become aware of a known issue with the Zoom integration in Canvas. In short, the presence of non-UW-affiliated attendee or host in a Zoom session will disable the setting for auto-recording the session. The recording function can still be manually activated. Canvas – Scheduled maintenance, February 1
Instructure, the vendor for the Canvas LMS, will be performing maintenance on the New Quizzes tool on Sunday, February 1, from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.(CT).
Users may not be able to access New Quizzes while the event is underway. All other Canvas functionality will remain operational in relation to this maintenance.

Honorlock – Update released February 3
On February 3, Honorlock will release an update to both their web application and extension. Of note, the release will deliver:
- Stronger camera enforcement
- Expanded browser blocking for better security
- Improved error messaging
- Canvas New Quizzes stability improvement
- Fixes to various bugs

Engage – Order dates for summer & fall
The ordering period for Engage, for summer 2026 is now open. It will close on March 24.
The ordering period for the fall will begin March 17, and run through May 12. Details can be found here.

HelioCampus AC – Training – Results & Reporting
Instructors and HelioCampus AC administrators who want to pull student evaluation data out of HelioCampus AC are invited to attend one of these 30-minute remote sessions. We will cover the primary reports within HelioCampus AC, and the most common parameters used to sort and organize the information. No registration is necessary.
Learn@UW Demystifies AI
This hour-long, fully remote session provides an overview of artificial intelligence for employees of UW–Madison. All faculty and staff are invited to attend one of the following sessions.
Registration is required, and enrollment for each session has been capped at 100.

Week of Monday, February 9
In February — three weeks after the semester begins — Learn@UW is offering 35 separate 30-minute training sessions. These are quick, targeted sessions addressing several elements of our suite of learning technologies: Canvas, Kaltura, Top Hat, Gradescope, Honorlock, Turnitin, UDOIT, and DesignPLUS.
Each session is intended to provide attendees with discrete take-away pieces of knowledge they can instantly apply to their instructional work.
Rather than list all 35 sessions here, we invite interested individuals to visit today.wisc.edu (filtered for “Learn@UW Online Training – Spring 2026”). No registration is necessary, and all sessions will be held in the same Zoom room.

Non-Credit Community of Practice – February 26
The Non‑Credit Community of Practice will meet on Thursday, February 26 at 12:00 p.m. We will explore how to use DesignPLUS in non‑credit Canvas courses. Our speaker, Keegan Shaw, from the Learn@UW team, will share insights on how these tools can support efficient course design.
DesignPLUS is a suite of three Canvas‑integrated tools that help instructors quickly build and style high‑quality courses. They support engaging, accessible learning experiences and do not require advanced technical skills to use.
