Efforts in the Division of Information Technology

Climate Survey

In spring 2021, the division partnered with Gallup to deliver a division-wide climate survey. 87% of staff employees and 31% of student staff participated. The ultimate goal was to collect meaningful information and provide staff with opportunities to share perceptions and experiences. The high participation rate provided leadership with a wealth of information and data about the division, employee engagement, specific development needs and more. The data informed local-level action planning and organizational focus areas to integrate sustainable, limited scope actions into ongoing practices across the Division of Information Technology. The survey results enabled the division’s leadership to make data-informed decisions that work toward creating a better, stronger, more inclusive division.

By gathering data about our divisional climate and acting on the results, we can strengthen relationships and create a welcoming culture within the division. Employees who have a higher level of engagement tend to be more productive and more satisfied with their positions. This leads to increased staff retention, customer engagement and overall wellbeing.

As we break down silos, we will gain a better understanding of division-wide initiatives to improve collaboration on priorities. Through building stronger networks, staff are better equipped to partner with colleagues on projects across the university. These engagements will enhance collaboration on projects and strengthen relationships across the broader IT community.
