Learn@UW Newsletter, week of August 8

What’s happening?

Gradescope – Now available

Gradescope is now officially available to all instructors as part of the suite of tools supported by Learn@UW. This powerful assessment and feedback tool will help instructors more quickly and efficiently perform their grading tasks in Canvas. Learn more here. To attend one of two live, remote “Canvas – Introducing Gradescope” training sessions, check out Upcoming Events at the bottom of this newsletter.

Canvas – New Quizzes now available

All instructors now have access to Canvas New Quizzes. It’s available as an “opt in” feature on a course-by-course basis. For more information and to get started with New Quizzes, click here and check out Upcoming Events at the bottom of this newsletter.

Top Hat – Features coming in August

We can expect to see several enhancements in Top Hat this month. Here are a few of the highlights.

  • Live reactions in guest mode. Presenters will be able to enable a setting allowing students to send real-time emoji reactions to presentation content. This feature will be released first for guest mode sessions in August and for regular classroom use in September.
  • Expanded support for video content. Instructors will have more flexibility to incorporate recorded lectures and other videos into courses. Instructors will be able to integrate video content from Kaltura, alongside existing YouTube and Vimeo options.
  • Easier transition to the next term with Course Copy. From the course lobby, instructors can click a button to make a copy of the entire course. Learn more here.

UDOIT – Advantage coming soon

On August 18th, we plan to upgrade from UDOIT to UDOIT Advantage. This will give you the ability to scan not only your courses but also your files, all from within Canvas.

More information will be shared in the coming weeks.
