Whether you’re new to the Learn@UW tools or have been using them for a while, our team offers many ways to help you learn more. As new features and tools are added, we continue to expand our training options to meet the needs of the UW–Madison community.

Customized training
We will work with you–as an individual instructor or a group of instructors–to develop custom training on these tools. Just contact the DoIT Help Desk and ask for a learning technologies consultant.
Live trainings
Throughout the year we provide several sessions of live, remote training on many of our centrally supported tools. We also identify and promote appropriate training sessions and webinars hosted by our vendors. All of these events are available in UW–Madison’s today.wisc.edu calendar.
Recorded trainings
Many of our training sessions have been recorded. Those recordings are available on-demand in the Learn@UW Training Video Library, in Kaltura MediaSpace. These are available for your convenience, and can be accessed 24 hours a day.
Student tech modules
Instructors can help students learn how to use learning tools in Canvas by adding Student Tech Modules to their courses. These ready-made modules explain how to use tools like Kaltura MediaSpace, Turnitin, Top Hat, and others. Instructors can easily find and download the modules from Canvas Commons, then customize them to fit their course.
User groups & communities
The groups listed below represent a rich cross section of instructional technology professionals on the UW–Madison campus. Each group is unique, catering to specific interests. Learn@UW works closely with all of them.

Community of interest for Learning Analytics
If you are interested in information about learning analytics opportunities and events on campus, please join the UW–Madison Learning Analytics team or email LearningAnalytics@office365.wisc.edu and request to be added to the group.
Institutional & compliance training support
The Learn@UW non-credit support team helps deliver required training for students and staff through Canvas and Workday. We work with campus partners like Human Resources, Compliance, and University Health Services to support courses that are required for university policies and regulations.
Our team can design and build online training courses and get them published to the Canvas or Workday LMS. We can also help you get your learners enrolled into Canvas courses. If you need help with online training courses, contact the DoIT Help Desk and ask to speak with a non-credit consultant—we’re happy to help you get started.
Instructional Technology Group (ITG)
The Instructional Technologists Group (ITG) is a cross-campus group dedicated to helping and supporting schools, departments, and instructors with anything related to teaching and learning technologies. You can join by contacting the secretary of the group, as listed on the ITG webpage.
Non-credit Community of Practice
The Non-Credit Community of Practice (CoP) is open to anyone in the non-credit/training space who facilitates, supports, or administers non-credit Canvas courses. For more information, and to register for the event, contact Andy Posselt by email.
Pressbooks User Group
Group established to help Pressbooks users learn more about features and connect with others to hear about the many ways this versatile tool is being used. Held several times throughout the year, these meetings offer a chance to learn the latest about Pressbooks. In addition to the meetings, Pressbooks users can connect via the Pressbooks User Group in Microsoft Teams.
Software Training for Students (STS)
Software Training for Students (STS) is a free student-to-student technology training service from DoIT Academic Technology. Our program helps UW–Madison students learn practical technology skills from their peers in a comfortable, low-stress student-to-student format.
