David Pagenkopf has been named Deputy Chief Information Officer at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Dave has been serving in the role on an interim basis since September 2018. The Deputy CIO position is responsible for the four major core areas of IT at the Division of Information Technology (DoIT), which include Network Services, Systems Engineering and Operations, User Services, and Application Infrastructure Services. Additional responsibilities include partnering with Chief Information Officer Lois Brooks to provide technology vision and direction for DoIT, along with leading strategic initiatives for the university.
Prior to and concurrently with assuming the Interim Deputy CIO role, Dave served as Director of the Application Development and Integration group at DoIT, and more recently as Director of the System Services group. Before joining DoIT in 2011, Dave held positions at TDS Telecom where he served as Director of the Application Development and Management group and at Promega Corporation where he led the Systems Development and Management team. Overall, Dave brings more than 22 years of IT and leadership experience to the role of Deputy CIO.

Dave began his role as Deputy CIO on May 1. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Engineering from UW–Madison.
