Free access to computers, printing & equipment on campus: InfoLabs explained
UW–Madison’s InfoLabs put computers, borrowable equipment and specialized software within reach at no cost, at more than 20 locations across campus.
More than 500 computers are available for students and employees to use, along with cameras, projectors and other equipment you can borrow, plus specialized software for photography, video editing, statistical analysis, symbolic math and more.
More than 20 locations across campus
Visit an InfoLab between classes or whenever it’s convenient. Many locations are inside campus libraries like College Library and Steenbock, all with wired internet access.

Free equipment checkout
Borrow cameras, projectors, gaming systems, audio recorders and similar equipment at no cost. Most items are first-come, first-served, though some locations allow advance reservations. Availability varies by location.
Specialized software included
Use software that’s expensive or hard to license on your own, including:
- SPSS, SAS, Stata, MATLAB and ArcGIS Pro for statistics and analysis
- Adobe Creative Cloud and Final Cut Pro for photo, design and video
- Fusion (JAWS and ZoomText) and Kurzweil 3000 for screen reading, magnification and text-to-speech
Printing for students
Print your assignments at 18 locations, most with wireless printing, or send a print job remotely through mobile printing. InfoLabs also offer large-format poster printing for research and symposium submissions. Pay through your Wiscard or a dedicated printing account.
Extended hours
Most labs stay open in the evenings and on weekends. The College Library InfoLab stays open overnight five nights a week.
