UDOIT – Upgraded to Advantage on August 18

For several semesters, UW–‍Madison’s installation of UDOIT has scanned thousands of Canvas courses to identify and help remedy countless accessibility issues.

On August 18, we upgraded to UDOIT Advantage. This new variation brings more comprehensive searches, more functionality, a refined interface, and a more powerful administrative dashboard. For details, refer to this news posting. (And, see below for dates and times of live, remote training sessions in the next two weeks.)

To view several brief, helpful UDOIT training videos, refer to this playlist on the Learn@UW Video Training Library.

Learn@UW – Using generative AI tools

As generative AI tools continue to spark interest across campus, those of us who support instructors are in a unique position to help guide their thoughtful and responsible use in educational settings.

Here are some suggestions for how we can support instructors in choosing–and using–the right tools:

  • Start with trusted technology. Use generative AI services that UW–‍Madison officially supports. These have been vetted for security, privacy, and compliance.
  • Model responsible use. Follow university guidelines and policies when working with AI tools. Be especially mindful of entering sensitive information related to people or university operations–even when using approved tools.

Stay informed. The DoIT Generative AI Services page is your to-to resource for updates. The AI landscape is evolving quickly, so check back regularly.
