Lois Brooks nominated for Higher Education IT Executive of the Year

UW–Madison Chief Information Officer Lois Brooks has been nominated for Higher Education IT Executive of the Year in the 2023 EdScoop 50 Awards.

The award honors visionary higher education decision-makers who are leading their institutions into new technology landscapes with innovative ideas and a focus on inspiring others to get on board. The nomination recognizes her exceptional achievements and her significant positive impact on the university community. Brooks is among 32 executives from peer institutions nominated for this year’s award.

“I’m so honored to be nominated along with some amazing friends and colleagues,” Brooks said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in the university community.”

EdScoop readers can vote for the Higher Education IT Executive of the Year now through October 27. EdScoop will announce the winner on November 7.

Lois Brooks has served as UW–Madison’s vice provost for information technology and CIO since 2018. She is active nationally in the higher education community, having served in leadership and governance roles with the Northwest Academic Computing Consortium, Unizin, Educause Learning Initiative, and Internet2. She received the 2022 ORBIE award for excellence in IT leadership in the large enterprise category.
