Dear DoIT Departmental Support Customers,
As many of you may have heard, Apple has released its latest update for MacOS, OSX 10.14 “Mojave.” This is always an exciting time for Apple users and this update brings a host of new features and apps that you can find more about here.
DoIT Departmental Support is hard at work testing and validating that the 10.14 update is compatible with our computing infrastructure and environment. Preliminary testing is positive but we have discovered a few issues that are concerning. At this time, we are recommending our MacOS users NOT upgrade to 10.14 until you receive further communication from Departmental Support. Upgrading to 10.14 is done at the user’s own risk and DoIT will only be able to offer limited support on those devices while we are still testing.
Additional information about our compatibility testing is available here:
OS COMPATIBILITY TESTING – MAC OS X 10.14 (MOJAVE)
Aside from standard testing in preparation for future MacOS 10.14 deployments and upgrades, we have received notification of a 0-day security exploit that allows unauthorized users the ability to bypass some of the privacy protections built into Mojave and access protected files. If you are interested in learning more, you can read more and watch a video of the exploit here.
Newly purchased MacBooks will come preloaded with 10.14; however, we currently do not have the ability to image existing Mac endpoints with 10.14. This is currently in development and we will notify our user base when this capability is available. Mac devices requiring reimage will continue to be configured with 10.13 “High Sierra.” Once we have resolved all issues on our end, verified compatibility for existing system upgrades, and receive confirmation that any and all security flaws have been resolved, DoIT will resume fulfilling any upgrade requests.
