Qualys training now available

The Office of Cybersecurity wants to extend an offer for FREE Qualys training to any departments that are interested!

You’re probably thinking, “but we’re all working remotely – we can’t attend training!” No sweat, we’re doing them virtually – and around whatever schedule might work for your department.

We can tailor the training to what your team is most interested in, because Qualys has a lot to offer:

  • Qualys Overview
    • This is a general overview of each module we currently have in Qualys. We will plan on reviewing this in any initial training requests.
  • Vulnerability Management
    • We’ll build on our basic knowledge from the overview, and focus on how to run vulnerability scans – authenticated and unauthenticated.
  • Certificate Management
    • We’ve all gotten that call – “This website says it’s not safe” – Uh oh, forgot to renew the cert! Let Qualys take care of that for you with reminders and renewals automation.
  • Reporting
    • Metrics are here to stay, so let us demonstrate how Qualys can show your leadership how awesome you are!
  • Dashboarding
    • Everyone likes graphs – they provide a quick view of your progress. We can show you how to make graphs with your reporting metrics! This is also where we can take those reports and turn them into easy-to-organize and prioritize to-do lists.
  • Policy Compliance
    • No one likes benchmarking – PCI, HIPAA, CIS, or whatever benchmark you’re trying to achieve – this module even has custom UW-specific options, even, to help make sure you’re meeting your regulatory needs. (My apologies if you do enjoy benchmarking, you’re a champ – don’t let anyone tell you different.)
  • IT Asset Inventory
    • With the current system-wide inventory plans, this module can assist you in gathering application data along with inventorying attached network devices.
  • Web Application Scanning
    • Do you write or support web applications? Do you know if they’re secure? This module can help you determine that!

Are you interested in one, or maybe all, of the above modules? Neat! Just contact Kim Davies via e-mail or MS Teams at kim.davies@wisc.edu. Let her know what department you’re in, and what you hope to be able to accomplish with Qualys. She’ll help you figure out a path forward!

Have you made it this far into the email thinking, wait – what is Qualys? Check out Qualys – An Introduction to Qualys Cloud Platform for Vulnerability Management (Source: KB 92681) to get a better understanding.

For questions, or to schedule a training session, please contact Kim Davies via e-mail or MS Teams at kim.davies@wisc.edu.

Hope to hear from anyone interested in scheduling this training with their team!
