Cherwell, the software that runs our IT service management (ITSM) tool known as WiscIT, will reach end-of-life on December 17, 2026, and will be replaced with the cloud instance of the Ivanti Neurons ITSM product.
Join us for monthly project updates!
The DoIT Service Management Subteam is an informal group that meets monthly to discuss tools and processes related to the DoIT Operational Framework and new developments in our ITSM tool.
Next Subteam meeting: Dec 10, 1pm via Teams
Meeting agenda
- Project team: We will report back about the decision discussed last month around outbound email configuration and give an update on the review of the incident categories currently used in the tool. Additionally, we’ll spend time revisiting service requests, share the strategy we’re formulating around how to utilize this functionality in the new tool and gather feedback from meeting attendees.

- Presenters share project updates and tool demonstrations at Wednesday meetings
Progress from the past month
In sprint 18, the project team had to dedicate much of their sprinting time to preparing for a final Cherwell upgrade that helps us stay in service support through our July Go Live target. In addition to that, the team also worked on:
Configuration management
- Creating Network Device configuration item type to enable the integration with Netbox
Incident management
- Setting up Service Requests so that a person’s support contract shows as part of the information we know about them
Problem management
- Readying the problem and outage objects to begin UX testing
What’s next
In December there will be a switch up of project managers: Jesse Henderson is leaving the project and Chris Richards is taking over as the project manager. The technical team will focus on the BigFix integration to support Departmental Support needs as well as a few of the initial service requests that are part of the current DTS portal.
