User Services

User Services offers user centered services to enhance the academic and research needs of the campus community. We provide help desk user support, computer repair, open computer lab support, technology use consulting, departmental support and educationally discounted product purchasing at three Tech Store campus locations.

Help Desk

Provides faculty, staff and students complimentary troubleshooting and support for a wide range of personal devices, software and campus services. Support is available online, by phone and email seven days a week and is available for in-person support at any of our three Tech Store locations. In addition to general troubleshooting, the Help Desk provides authorized warranty repair for Apple and Dell computers, customized support for campus departments and produces the campus online KnowledgeBase.

Departmental Support

Provides contract departmental support services to UW-Madison departments, ranging from backup support for departmental staff to full-service, on-site departmental and LAN support. In addition, Departmental Support manages the campus general access computer lab program.

DoIT Tech Store

Provides in-person technology consulting, help desk support and discounted product purchasing of academic technology products for departments, faculty, staff and students at three campus locations. Our dedicated product sales team is also available by phone and email, and users may also acquire product knowledge and 24×7 ordering through our online Tech Store site. In addition, our Logistics group is responsible for all delivery receipt and inventory management in Computer Sciences, and provides a campus delivery service.

Product Management

Manages the product portfolio in the Tech Store, and provides customized buying support for campus departments and users. In addition, the Product Management team manages the Campus Software Library that delivers complimentary academic and research software to faculty, staff and students and also manages the WISC software program which delivers discounted software to all UW System users.
