Find your files with new “search chips”

Searching for files can be a productivity drain. If you’ve been using Google Workspace for very long, you know that its simple keyword search has sometimes made finding the right file difficult.

Google knows it too, which is why they’ve added a new search feature to your Google Workspace to make it easier and quicker to find what you need.

“Search chips,” as Google calls the new feature, let you search on more than just keywords. They let you to refine your search results by:

  • File type, such as a Google Doc, PDF, or image 
  • People 
  • Location, such as a shared drive or specific folder 
  • When the document was last modified File titles only 
  • Shared labels 
  • Tasks
