Since 1979, Gartner has provided a wide range of industries research, data and insights to help professionals make informed, effective decisions. We’re pleased to announce that Gartner for Technical Professionals is now available for free to IT staff across UW–‍Madison. This guide contains details on the services available and how to access them.

What is Gartner?

Gartner is a global business and technology research and advisory company supporting leaders across 15,000 organizations in over 100 countries. Gartner’s research documents, analysts and consultants provide indispensable insights, advice and tools needed to achieve mission-critical institutional priorities and to help build the organizations of tomorrow.

Gartner for Technical Professionals (GTP) provides in-depth information and research for campus IT professionals in domains including technical planning and decision making, architecture and design, and technology assessment.

How Gartner for Technical Professionals works

Join the Gartner group

If you’re a UW–‍Madison employee with an interest in learning more from Gartner for Technical Professionals, you can join the campus Gartner Tech Group.

All you need is a NetID confirming your status as a UW–‍Madison employee.

How to join:

  1. Go to the Gartner Tech Group join page.
  2. Click the red “Join Group” button.
  3. Watch for a confirmation message in green toward the top of the page.

Access Gartner

Once you’ve joined the Gartner Tech Group, access a wealth of content through the UW–‍Madison Gartner Tech portal. Customize your portal according to role, industry or vendor. Some choices include:

  • Applications—architecture, development, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and customer experience, digital workspace, integration, endpoint
  • Data and analytics—BI, data management
  • Infrastructure and operations—cloud management, data infrastructure
  • Security and risk management—Identity and access, apps and data, networks and endpoints, cloud
