As announced this past spring, Adobe will be disabling serialized installations of Creative Cloud software by November 16, 2019. For more information and a guide to whether this change will affect you, you can view our previous post. For even more information, Adobe will be presenting an IT roundtable on the topic.

Join us on October 16th for a conversation with Adobe’s James Lockman, Ruby Sze and Lori DeFurio about serial number expiration. The team will cover how to check if you have expiring serial numbers and what you need to do to ensure you don’t lose access to Adobe apps and services you rely on.

Additionally, Adobe has announced a redesign of the Creative Cloud desktop app.

Redesign details from Adobe

The Creative Cloud desktop application has been redesigned, from the ground up, to be a more intuitive way to access apps, update them, and discover other apps that complement or extend creativity. Creative Cloud desktop also provides new levels of power and control over Creative Cloud Libraries as well as easier access to help content along with comprehensive search and asset management features. In short, it’s the portal to your Creative Cloud world and makes it easier than ever to get to the tools, assets, and content you need, when you need them.

What are the key changes to the desktop app?

  • The new app installs and launches faster
  • More easily view your installed apps and any updates required on an improved user interface
  • Learn more about your apps– and apps you are interested in– from Product Detail pages that include overviews, key features, OS compatibility, links to tutorials, and more
  • Access resources– fonts, tutorials, Stock, Behance– from the desktop app
  • ‘Your work’ provides an easier way to manage your Creative Cloud Libraries. You can add, create, organize and share your files and assets like you’re used to –but on a larger canvas
  • Send a mobile app download link directly to your mobile or email, making downloading new apps easier than ever
  • Browse, activate and manage fonts
  • In-app ‘Search’ bar returns search results across categories including Help, Apps, Stock, and ‘Your Work’
  • Quickly see how much storage you have and easily upgrade if necessary (please note that there is no change to existing experience)
  • Customize preferences to enable automatic updates, launch Creative Cloud at login, enable notifications, and more (please note that existing preferences will carry over into the new desktop app)
  • Adobe plans to auto-update all instances of the Creative Cloud Desktop app on or soon after 10/12/2019.
