An update about it.wisc.edu service pages

As you may have noticed, last week we updated the services landing page on the it.wisc.edu site, replacing the alphabetical listing with a categorized view and adding excerpts from the service description. Since then we’ve received feedback helping us to improve the new services page further. We thank you for it.

What’s more, we’ve been busily reviewing all of the individual service pages to identify obsolete page content and services, and have begun working with service owners to update or remove pages as needed. In order that removed service pages showing up in searches don’t simply result in a “page not found” error, we’ve begun redirecting the URLs for the newly retired services pages to a discontinued services page. For example, the campus-wide kiosks previously provided by DoIT User Services have been retired, so we removed the corresponding service page and redirected its URL to the discontinued services page.

Finally, we’ve been adding service pages to the site as new services spin up and as we identify gaps. For example, an IT Asset Management service page is in the works and we recently added the Webex service page.

As always, we welcome your feedback as we seek to provide relevant and useful information about IT services, initiatives, projects, events and people.
