DoIT Guidance on MacOS Catalina and Adobe Creative Cloud Update

There are two items we would like to bring to your attention. The first only affects users with Apple computers. The latest version of macOS has been released. It is called Catalina, and you may see prompts on your Apple device asking to update. At this time our Desktop Engineers are still working on ensuring all of our applications are compatible with it, so we ask that you do not update to Catalina at this time.

The second is that the existing campus Adobe license is set to expire on November 18th. Where previously one license covered all installations we will be moving to a per-user licensing model. This will function very similarly to authenticating Office 365 applications, in that each user will need to sign into the Adobe Creative Cloud application with their NetID and password to authenticate all Adobe products. We have already begun deploying Adobe Creative Cloud in the background for all managed devices. For instructions on how to sign into Creative Cloud please visit this kb article. If you already have Adobe applications installed, this will also give you the opportunity to update them to the latest version. Instructions for updating applications after you have signed in are located here.

Additionally, if you have a machine that is being used by students, a separate license (the Shared Device License) is required. If you need this installed, please let us know and we can push it separately to those machines. Information on how to log into and use the Shared Device License can be found here.
