Pat Christian named DoIT Network Services director

Colleagues,

I’m very pleased to announce that Pat Christian has accepted the position of Division of Information Technology (DoIT) Network Services director. Pat brings a wealth of experience to the Network Services director position, having worked for over 18 years on the DoIT Network Services team, most recently as associate director, with additional experience from his work at WiscNet, the University of Chicago Information Technology Services and in the private sector at Spectrum Brands (formerly known as Rayovac) and TDS Computing Services.

As Network Services director, Pat will lead a team of 50 networking management and technical professionals responsible for the data, video, voice and networking infrastructure on the UW–Madison campus. The Network Services team provides the wired and wireless networks, remote access systems, cable TV services, telephone and messaging services, and all physical infrastructure necessary for network connectivity. DoIT Network Services also provides UW System with Internet and research computing connectivity.

“I am honored and humbled to have the opportunity to lead a strong networking team at a world-class institution like UW in support of faculty, staff and students,” adds Pat. “I look forward to building meaningful collaborations and high-quality services to connect people, data, computational resources and instruments.”

Pat will begin his new role on October 23, 2022. He will work with current Network Services director, Jeanne Skul, to ensure a smooth transition until her retirement at the end of the calendar year.

Please join me in congratulating Pat!
