Feature change to Office 365 Outlook removes automatic Teams meeting link

Microsoft recently made a change to the Office 365 calendar service enabling any new meeting created in Microsoft Outlook to automatically generate a Microsoft Teams event. This event also included a link in the meeting invitation by default.

In order to enable individuals to choose their online meeting software preference (such as Zoom, Webex, Teams, etc.), we have disabled this default setting as of January 21, 2022. Anyone who had this setting enabled will no longer have Microsoft Teams meetings automatically created when generating future meetings.

For more information on this change please see this article from Microsoft on scheduling a Teams meeting from Outlook, in the section “Making every meeting a Teams meeting.” If you have additional questions about this service or others, please contact the DoIT Help Desk.
