UW–Madison’s Office of Compliance rolled out the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Training 2019-2020 online training course Thursday, January 9, 2020. The training is a regulatory requirement and also reflects UW–Madison’s commitment to compliance with laws that protect the privacy and security of our patients’ and research subjects’ Protected Health Information (“PHI”).
Training is only required of faculty, staff, students, and volunteers at UW–Madison who work or train in areas where they have access to PHI; those needing to complete the training were already enrolled and should have received an email about the need to complete the training. If you have not already done so and are part of the HIPAA training population, please be sure to complete the training course and its quiz no later than Friday, January 31, 2020. If you need to complete the training, you may access the course at this link.
Contact Amanda Reese with any questions about timing, accessibility, or the content of the training. If you require technical assistance, contact the DoIT Help Desk at firstname.lastname@example.org or 264-HELP (264-4357).
Thank you for your attention to this training requirement. Please see compliance.wisc.edu/hipaa/training for more information.
