A Cloud Guru training

Researchers: Participate in a community learning cloud computing skills

DoIT Research Cyberinfrastructure is organizing a cloud community group to help you gain cloud computing skills. You will use an online training service to learn skills and share what you’re learning with one another.

This community will be based on shared use of the cloud computing training platform, A Cloud Guru, and a set of meetings to share experiences and information.

To kick start the cloud community, we recently purchased additional licenses for A Cloud Guru that are good for August 1, 2023 to April 11, 2024 to share with researchers (and the IT professionals who support researchers) to build your cloud-native skills and pave the way for harnessing the potential of the cloud for your research innovations. These licenses are available to researchers on a first come, first served basis.

A Cloud Guru is an online training platform for learning cloud computing skills.  It is highly recommended by cloud IT professionals as a tool for self-paced learning on all major public cloud platforms.

To participate, we ask that you engage in the following ways:

  1. Complete this application to let us know you are interested in participating and your interests in cloud computing.
  2. Complete an interview at the end of the license period (after April 11, 2024) to share what you learned using the A Cloud Guru platform and how you used the skills you developed for research. This will help us understand if this platform is a good tool for acquiring cloud computing skills for research projects.
  3. Attend at least two community meetings that we are organizing. These will be informal meetings of individuals (both researchers and IT professionals) who are using A Cloud Guru to share what they are learning. Since there are individuals at all cloud computing proficiency levels using the platform to build their cloud skills, these events will be a good forum for asking questions and getting tips and advice from others.
