2 puzzle pieces that fit together

Academic Technology’s software development teams merge on Jul 2

On July 2, the two software development teams in the Academic Technology department will merge. The My–UW Madison Academic Application Development (MUMAA) and Teaching & Research Application Development (TRAD) teams will continue providing the same services in support of teaching, learning, advising, and research, but will do so together under the Teaching & Research Application Development name.

TRAD partners with instructors, researchers and other members of the university community to conceptualize, design and implement innovative custom software solutions, support complex technical needs in the university’s digital learning ecosystem and create solutions for the academic advising community.

Combining the Academic Technology development teams offers several long-term benefits, including:

  • Building organizational knowledge among a wider breadth of Academic Technology developers
  • Increasing service responsiveness to just-in-time technical support of live tools
  • Providing additional burstable capacity for high-priority work or urgent, time-sensitive and unplanned work
  • Creating road mapping and capacity efficiencies
  • Identifying opportunities for shared architectural, code management and process improvement practices

More information about Academic Technology development services can be found on the TRAD website. Questions about the merger can be directed to Steph Johnson.
