University of Wisconsin–Madison

Web Platforms/Services (WPS)

Enterprise platforms, tools, and other resources that facilitate the economical creation of standards-based websites, web applications, and mobile applications.

How Can We Help?

Managed web platforms (KnowledgeBase, MyUW, WiscWeb). For some of the most common needs at our University for creating and sharing information, we provide managed web platforms for quickly and easily creating and managing web content. Users do not need to know how to code or how to maintain hosting infrastructure. These platforms also come pre-built with University-branded, feature-rich templates that help users to create accessible, performant, mobile-friendly web content. Technical users can also use some of these platforms as a springboard to deliver unique functionality while our team covers all maintenance, upkeep, user support, and infrastructure support.

Self-managed hosting (Web Hosting). Technical teams that require more flexibility or who wish to manage their own infrastructure can make use of our cloud and on-premise shared web hosting environments. This service supports those who require additional features such as custom web applications, sensitive/restricted data, and ecommerce.

Consultation, Training, & Support. If you do not know where to start or want help determining which services can help accomplish your goals, our team offers free consultation to help select options. All of our services have comprehensive support and training. We also work closely with the Center for User Experience to offer ideas and guidance for how to use web platforms to effectively communicate with your audience.
