Why do we have to do Cybersecurity Awareness Training annually?

This annual training is mandatory per UWSA Policy 1032 (Source: wisconsin.edu) and required for employees who are eligible for pay increases and any type of bonus. Learning how to be more cyber secure is also an important part of keeping data, privacy, and IT systems protected and secure. The training must be completed by December 1, 2022.

If you have any questions about the eligibility requirements for the pay adjustments, performance bonuses, and pay plan increases, please contact the human resources department (Source: hr.wisc.edu) in your school, college or division.

When do I have to complete my Cybersecurity Awareness Training?

Complete your mandatory Cybersecurity Training by Dec 1, 2022. Employees who do not complete the training will be deemed ineligible for pay adjustments and bonuses determined by their local schools, colleges, or divisions and ineligible for pay play increases. If you have any questions about the eligibility requirements for the pay adjustments, performance bonuses, and pay plan increases, please contact the human resources department (Source: hr.wisc.edu) in your school, college or division.

All graduate and undergraduate student employees need to complete the training by Dec 1, 2022.

 

How long will it take me to complete the training?

It should take you 30 minutes or less to complete.

How do I return to the training after I've already started it?

You can return to the training by going to your Canvas dashboard (Source: canvas.wisc.edu) and clicking on whichever Cybersecurity Awareness Training you chose for 2022. Please do not register again for the training. 

What do I need to do to pass the 2022 training?

  • Read all 6 sections in order
    • There are links to additional resources in the training (you will not be tested on these resources). You can read them while taking the training or access them later. They will also be emailed to you after you complete the training.
  • Take the quiz at the end
    • Score at least 80%
    • Take the quiz as many times as you need to pass

How will I know when I've completed the training?

You will know when you have completed the training when you reach a page that says, “Congratulations! You have finished your Cybersecurity Awareness Training for 2022.” You must pass the quiz with 80% correct (13.6 points through 17 points) for this message to show.

How can I verify that I've completed the Cybersecurity Awareness Training for 2022?

You will receive an email stating you have completed your 2022 Cybersecurity Awareness Training. You can also view the completion in your Employee Transcript:

  1. Go to My Registrations and Learning Transcript webpage (Source: talent.wisc.edu) on the Office of Human resources website
  2. Sign in with your NetID and password.
  3. Click on Transcripts. You should see Cybersecurity Awareness Training 2022 listed

Please allow 24 hours after taking the training for your transcript to be updated.

Is the training ADA compliant?

At this time, Training Option 1 is not ADA compliant, but Training Option 2 is. Are new employees required to take Cybersecurity Awareness Training within 30 days of hire?

No. The rule requiring new employees to complete Cybersecurity Awareness Training within 30 days of hire has been removed. New employees (along with all employees) are required to complete yearly Cybersecurity Awareness Training by Dec 1.  All new employees will need to read and abide by the Acceptable Use of Information Technology Resources policy (Source: wisconsin.edu) upon hire.

Note: Any employee who completed the 2021 Cybersecurity Awareness Training in 2022 will be considered to be complete for 2022. 

I completed a different cybersecurity training in 2022. Do I have to complete this training too?

If you’ve taken a different cybersecurity training in 2022, please complete this form with information about that training. We will review the information and let you know if you’ve met the training requirements.

If I find an issue with the training, how do I report it?

I'm a student, do I need to complete this training?

If you are employed by the university, you are required to complete the training by Dec 1 of each year. Students not employed by the university are encouraged to complete the training to become more cyber secure but are not required to take it.
