Join us on Friday, July 7, for a virtual discussion about geospatial artificial intelligence (GeoAI) with UW–Madison’s Song Gao, associate professor of geography and director of the Geospatial Data Science Lab.
GeoAI is a new, interdisciplinary scientific field that incorporates recent developments in spatial science, machine learning, data mining and high-performance computing to uncover meaningful insights in large amounts of spatial data. With rapid advances in AI technologies, scientists have applied GeoAI predictive modeling applications to real-world problems like improving auto traffic congestion and mitigating human health problems related to environmental exposure.

About the speaker
Song Gao
Song Gao, Ph.D., is an associate professor in the Geography department and director of the Geospatial Data Science Lab, where he leads a team of researchers exploring geospatial artificial intelligence (GeoAI) and how it relates to human mobility, urban informatics, transportation, public health and more. His research interests include geospatial big data analytics, GeoAI, GIScience theory, human mobility and spatial networks. He is passionate about connecting theoretical research and advancements in GIScience to geospatial industry for solving real-world challenges.
