The Digital Accessibility Community of Practice (CoP) provides education, awareness, and professional development for anyone who procures or creates digital content, regardless of their role or level of technical experience.
The CoP shares information about the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) digital accessibility rule, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) technical standard, and the university’s digital accessibility program.
Whether you are working on a webpage, document, software, or multimedia, the CoP provides clear, practical guidance on meeting accessibility requirements. Members can ask questions, share their experiences, and support one another in making digital content accessible and usable to everyone.

When does the CoP meet?
The CoP meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. on Zoom. Dates and times may occasionally change based on presenter availability.
What can I expect?
Each CoP session focuses on a digital accessibility topic—such as heading structures, color contrast, captions, or ARIA . Sessions may include presentations, panel, group discussions, demonstrations, or collaborations with other campus groups. Topics may build on the Digital Accessibility Spotlight Series, highlight university initiatives such as the accessible digital procurement process, or respond to the needs, questions, and input of the community. Participants are encouraged to ask questions, share experiences, work through examples, and learn from one another.”
How can I stay connected?
Members have access to the CoP Teams channel, where they can ask questions, share information, and connect with others working on digital accessibility. Members are also added to the email list to receive meeting announcements and updates.

Mission, values and history
Our mission is to promote inclusive digital experiences and content at UW–Madison by cultivating community and providing opportunities to learn about best practices for digital accessibility. We value collaboration, inclusivity and continuous learning in the field of digital accessibility.
Established in 2019, the Digital Accessibility Community of Practice has been instrumental in spreading information about digital accessibility across campus. Our impact has been particularly notable in disseminating information about the university’s Digital Accessibility policy.
