Cybersecurity Awareness Training

Complete your 2024 Cybersecurity Awareness Training

The 2024 Cybersecurity Awareness Training is available in English (visual and text). This annual training is mandatory for all employees (including undergraduate and graduate student employees), as well as retirees and those in unpaid positions who access UW–‍Madison information technology resources per UWSA Policy 1032. The training must be completed every 365 days (or earlier if required by your area). If you have already completed the 2024 training, the completion will be noted in your Employee Learning Transcript.

Learning how to be more cyber secure is an important part of keeping data, privacy, and IT systems protected and safe. The information and cybersecurity practices you will learn in this training will not only protect UW–‍Madison’s data and systems, but your personal data as well.

You must register for 1 training option (visual or text) through the 2024 Cybersecurity Awareness Training website.

  • Your selected course will then appear in Canvas.
  • To pass, you must correctly answer 12 of the 15 multiple choice questions.
  • The training should take fewer than 30 minutes to complete, but it does not need to be completed in 1 sitting. You can return to the training, pick up where you left off and complete it at your convenience.
  • You can retake the quiz until you pass.

If you do not use a computer for your work with UW–‍Madison, you may be eligible to take the paper version of the Cybersecurity Awareness Training. Please reach out to your HR representative or supervisor to see if you qualify. If you are an HR representative, please contact the Cybersecurity Awareness Team for guidance on how the simplified training process works.
