Why use Engage?

Unizin Engage, part of the Learn@UW technology suite, provides access to the exact same textbooks and materials used in print versions but often at significantly lower costs for students, thanks to Unizin’s ability to negotiate volume discounts directly with publishers. Since UW–‍Madison introduced the service in 2018, Engage has saved Badgers $16.7 million when compared to the publishers’ listed textbook prices.

Engage also enables new interactive teaching approaches within Canvas. Instructors and students can annotate eTexts, create flashcards from notes and highlight or cite important information. More options are available with integrated publisher digital learning tools. All materials are seamlessly delivered through your Canvas course without having to deal with codes and external app logins.

Many large publishers, including McGraw Hill Education, Pearson, Cengage, Macmillan Learning and W. W. Norton, offer eTexts and digital learning tools. Once you’ve placed your order in Engage, your selected digital materials will be available to your students by the 1st day of class. The cost associated with the materials is bundled into their tuition bills, making it easy to pay and eligible for coverage by financial aid.
