New teams meeting integration to include video conferencing link and more

Beginning February 21, 2022, Microsoft Teams meeting invites will include a link to “join with a video conferencing device.” This is part of a new integration between Microsoft Teams and Cisco that enables Cisco (and SIP-capable) video conferencing hardware to join Microsoft Teams meetings.

This only affects new meetings created after February 21. When the change takes effect, it will be reflected on any new Microsoft Teams meeting created by any method. Any recurring meetings will need to be rescheduled to show the video conferencing link option, if desired.

This new integration enhances the experiences of attendees who join a meeting on supported Cisco video devices with:

  • Multiple layout options
  • Roster list showing both Microsoft and video integration participants
  • Bi-directional content sharing through SIP capable hardware devices
